Artificial intelligence
An introduction to AI
|
AI is a branch of computer science which aims to create intelligent machines. This involves developing computer programs to complete tasks that would otherwise require human intelligence. Ideas about machine learning were developed by people like Alan Turing. AI has opened the world up to the idea that machines can learn, reason and self-correct in a similar way to that of the human brain.
An artificially intelligent robot collates information about a situation through sensors and human input. This information is compared to previously stored data. The AI robot uses this stored data to decide what the new information signifies. Based on the collected information the AI robot will run through possible actions and predictions to decide on a course of action that will be the most suitable. AI includes apps that use data to make decisions, chat bots and robots. |

Draw 5 items and see if the computer can recognise them. Click here or on the Quick Draw image to play.
After you have drawn your 5 items, have a look at the data that the program has collected and which has been used to train the AI program to recognise the items. quickdraw.withgoogle.com/data |
